Turkish Pea Stew with Ground Beef, Potato and Carrot (Bezelye)
When I moved from Europe to Turkey, I have such an amazing experiences. Not only located in unique geography In between European and Asian continent (which make Turkey become one of the most visited country, btw…) Turkey has tons of delicious food that will fulfill your mind, body and soul.
Bezelye is one of my favorite. Directly translate to peas, Bezelye cooked with ground beef, potato, carrot, tomato puree, and lots of onion which make it super healthy and delicious.
I know what are you thinking. It might sounds boring, because that was I thought before when my Turkish friend served me this. But believe me, when I say, it had so much flavour in one spoon. So tasty and savory. Turkish people normally eat Bezelye with bread, but as Asian of course I eat it with rice and the taste become more delicious.
Bezelye is a family dish. Turkish family will make a big pot of Bezelye for all of the family and if it is not finish in one eating, they will heat it again the next day and for some reason the taste is much tastier when you eat it the day after.
So, without any hesitate let’s put your apron and cook this famous Turkish family meal…

Saute for 10 more minutes and add your tomato puree mix into the pan and don't forget to seasoning with salt and pepper according to your taste. Stir it until well combine and cover the pan. Bring it to simmer until all the vegetables well cooked.
- While being cooked, some liquid will evaporated due to long simmering process, you could add a litle bit more hot water so it is not burning.
- Serve it warm with bread or rice. Enjoy it 🙂
